EcoFlow PowerOcean DC Fit Converter

The EcoFlow PowerOcean DC Fit (model EF PD-5-S1) retrofits an existing PV system without storage with a battery. It is connected on the DC side between the modules and the existing inverter; according to EcoFlow, an additional storage inverter and changes to the AC cabling are not necessary.

How the retrofit works

The converter draws power from the modules, uses it to charge the PowerOcean battery and later feeds the electricity back to the existing solar inverter. It is compatible with both single-phase and three-phase inverters. With one to three EF BD-5.1-S1 battery modules, storage capacities of 5.1, 10.2 or 15.3 kWh are achieved; the maximum output power is 3.3 or 5 kW, depending on the configuration.
