Flat-roof mounting system
K2 Dome 6 installs solar panels on flat roofs in an east-west orientation. Complete sets for 2 to 12 panels, plus basic sets, tips, wind protection and building protection mats available separately for extensions.
East-West mounting system K2 Dome 6 for flat roofs: ready-to-use D-Dome 6.10 mounting kits for 2 to 12 modules with a 10° tilt, plus base sets, peaks and support elements for 10° and 15°, ballast supports, building protection mats and clamps. The modules are positioned in pairs facing each other, secured with ballast rather than roof penetrations.
What a mounting kit contains and what it does not
The D-Dome 6.10 installation kits consist of Base Sets – i.e. pre-assembled 2.48 m base rails with front support elements, end plates and three Dome-Mat supports – plus Peaks, Speed Porters for the ballast and DomeClamp clamps. Not included are the ballast blocks, a fixed connection such as the Dome FixPro, or the structural and ballast calculations. According to K2, the system is designed for framed modules measuring 1,448 to 2,390 mm in length, 960 to 1,170 mm in width and 30 to 50 mm in frame height. A further set for two modules contains only Peaks and end clamps, without a base rail.
Roof requirements
- Without roof penetration – i.e. using ballast only – K2 specifies the system for roof pitches of up to 3°.
- According to K2, a system consists of at least two interconnected mounting structures, i.e. four modules. The set for 2 modules is intended for expansion.
- According to the manufacturer, two Speed Porters on the rail can support up to approximately 40 kg of ballast. Whether the roof can bear the load must be determined by a structural analysis.
Base Sets are connected using the Dome-6 connector set, which provides equipotential bonding. Additional terminals are located at the module terminals, whilst the modules themselves are the solar panels. For pitched roofs, roof hooks and fixings are available for trapezoidal sheet metal and metal roofing.
