Multi Split Air Conditioner
A multi-split air conditioner cools and heats several rooms via a single outdoor unit. Each room is connected by its own refrigerant pipe to an indoor unit, yet only one unit is mounted on the façade. The range includes multi-split air conditioners from Hantech and TCL for two to four rooms, each supplied as a complete set.
How many rooms can be connected to one outdoor unit
The number of connections is determined by the outdoor unit. An 18,000 BTU unit can accommodate up to two indoor units, a 27,000 BTU unit up to three, and the 32,000-BTU unit from Hantech up to four. The indoor units are wall-mounted units with 9,000 or 12,000 BTU. According to the data sheet, this corresponds to a nominal cooling capacity of 2.6 and 3.4 kW.
The indoor units in a set may have a combined capacity greater than that of the outdoor unit; for example, two units of 12,000 BTU each connected to a single 18,000-BTU unit. The outdoor unit is designed to meet simultaneous demand, and it is rare for all rooms to be operating at full load at the same time.
Multi-split or multiple split air conditioners
For two or more rooms, a multi-split system saves space on the façade: one outdoor unit instead of two, three or four. However, all rooms are connected to a single outdoor unit, and the pipework must run from a single point to each indoor unit. According to the data sheet, the outdoor units are designed for pipe lengths of up to 30 metres (18,000 BTU), 40 metres (27,000 BTU) and 50 metres (32,000 BTU), with a height difference of up to 10 metres permitted. If the rooms are far apart or spread over several floors, it is worth comparing this with individual units. For a single room, a split air conditioner is the simpler choice.
Efficiency and features
In cooling mode, the sets achieve energy class A++ with a SEER of 6.1 to 6.3; in heating mode, they achieve A+ with a SCOP of 4.0. According to the data sheet, they can heat down to an outdoor temperature of −20 °C and cool up to 53 °C. All indoor units can be controlled via remote control and Wi-Fi; the wall-mounted units from the Hantech H-Pro series feature a self-cleaning function. The refrigerant used is R32.

Can I connect another indoor unit at a later date?
We do not sell individual indoor units; the multi-split air conditioner is only available as a set. You should therefore decide on the number of rooms before making your purchase.
Does a multi-split air conditioner also provide heating?
Yes. According to the technical data sheet, the sets can heat down to an outside temperature of −20 °C, with a SCOP of 4.0 and energy class A+ in heating mode.
