In short: We will ship split air conditioners containing fluorinated refrigerants only upon receipt of written proof that a certified specialist company has been commissioned. The unit does not need to be installed at that point.

How does the verification process work?
To ensure that your split air conditioner is installed correctly, we require written proof that you have commissioned a certified specialist company. The installation does not need to have taken place at this stage.
- Add your air conditioning kit to your basket and submit your order.
- You will receive an email from us requesting proof of installation.
- Respond with the written order confirmation from your certified specialist contractor. The document must clearly state the contracted contractor and the relevant installation.
- Following successful verification, you will receive our express confirmation of the order. Dispatch will then take place in accordance with the agreed terms of payment and delivery.
Have you not yet commissioned a specialist company?
Please contact us before placing your order. We will be happy to explain which documents we require. The installation contract and costs are not included in the purchase price of the air-conditioning kit; ACTEC does not carry out installations. You can contact us via the contact page.
Why do we need this evidence?
For the split air conditioners in question, which are charged with fluorinated refrigerants, proof of installation is a legal requirement for sale. A general declaration to commission a specialist company at a later date is not sufficient for this purpose. The legal basis is Article 11(7) of Regulation (EU) 2024/573 and Section 15(3) of the ChemKlimaschutzV. What the Regulation means for the refrigerant used in the units is explained under ‘Refrigerant R32’.
This applies to split air conditioners containing fluorinated refrigerants such as R32; the refrigerant used in a unit is specified in the description on the product page. Units without fluorinated refrigerants, such as dehumidifiers and portable air conditioners using the refrigerant R290, are not affected.

Refrigerant R32 and the ban from 2029: What buyers need to know
R32 is the refrigerant used in all split air conditioners in the range. It is a fluorinated refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) of 675, less than a third of that of R410A. From 1 January 2029, new split air conditioners up to 12 kW using a refrigerant with a GWP of 150 or higher may no longer be placed on the market; this also applies to R32. Units that have already been purchased and installed may continue to be operated. As R32 is an F-gas, installation must be carried out by a certified specialist contractor.
Which air conditioner for which room size?
As a rule of thumb, a room requires around 60 to 100 watts of cooling capacity per square metre, depending on insulation and sunlight. For 20 m², that is 1.2 to 2.0 kW, i.e. a unit with 9,000 BTU (around 2.6 kW); for 40 m², 2.4 to 4.0 kW, i.e. 9,000 to 18,000 BTU.
Split or portable air conditioner: which is right for you?
If you want long-term cooling and are permitted to drill, you are better off with a permanently installed split air conditioner. According to the manufacturer’s specifications, its indoor unit, as a wall-mounted unit, is significantly quieter at 19 to 31 dB than a portable air conditioner with an exhaust hose, which operates at 51 to 54 dB; it works more efficiently and can also heat; however, it requires a wall duct and installation by a certified specialist firm. A portable air conditioner is suitable where drilling is not permitted – for example, in a rented flat – or where cooling is only required on the odd hot day.
