Stäubli Electrical Connectors—formerly Multi-Contact—has set the global standard for DC connections in photovoltaic systems with the MC4. With increasing module currents and system voltages up to 1,500 V DC, the demands on DC cabling are rising; the product portfolio addresses this with the proven MC4, the high-performance MC4-Evo 2 system, as well as Y-connectors, couplers, and installation accessories.

The technical foundation is the patented MULTILAM contact technology: a spring contact that maintains low contact resistance throughout its service life— even under thermal cycling and mechanical stress.

Why “MC4-compatible” isn’t the same thing

The industry often refers to “MC4-compatible.” However, mixing manufacturers—cross-mating—is one of the most common causes of fire in PV systems and leads to the loss of certification. Stäubli guarantees a defined connection through MULTILAM and tight manufacturing tolerances. For this reason, investors and insurers often explicitly require original components.

ACTEC carries original Stäubli connectors and the corresponding certified tools for standard-compliant installations. Also included in the product line: solar cables compliant with H1Z2Z2-K, ensuring that the entire DC circuit consists of coordinated components .
