When photovoltaics meets IT

With FusionSolar, Huawei Digital Power is building a system comprising inverters, storage solutions, and digital plant management. This includes the SUN2000string and hybrid inverters for residential and commercial installations, as well as the modular LUNA2000battery storage systems.

The Smart-String architecture allows for flexible string layouts, making it suitable for complex roof orientations. Multiple MPP trackers, optional optimizers, and AI-based arc fault detection (AFCI) contribute to safe, stable-yield operation; the FusionSolar monitoring system enables centralized monitoring of inverters, storage systems, and the entire installation.

Partial Optimization Instead of Full Equipment

Unlike systems that require an optimizer on every module, Huawei allows for partial optimization: Only the modules that are actually shaded are equipped with an optimizer. This significantly reduces material costs without sacrificing yield where it is actually needed.

In the case of the “LUNA2000” storage systems, an Energy Optimizer in each battery module ensures that modules of different ages or charge levels work together without loss. The usable capacity is thus maintained over the system’s lifespan—and an expansion in two years does not require relying on identical components.
