Mounting rails & connectors
Mounting rails from K2 Systems support the modules on the roof: SingleRail 36 and SolidRail Light in lengths from 2.40 to 5.95 m, BasicRail 22 for trapezoidal sheet metal, plus rail connectors and cross-connections for longer rows of modules.
Mounting rails in three profiles from K2 Systems and the connectors that go with each profile: SingleRail 36 in four lengths, one of which is also black anodised, SolidRail Light and BasicRail 22. The rails rest on the roof mounting and support the module clamps.
Which profile belongs to which system
- SingleRail 36 (39.4 × 36 mm): for flat and pitched roofs, mounted on SingleHook and CrossHook roof hooks.
- SolidRail Light (39.5 × 37 mm): for pitched roofs in the SolidRail system, for example on the SolidHook 4S+ roof hook.
- BasicRail 22 (63 × 22.5 mm): quick-fit rail for trapezoidal sheet metal and the base rail of the Dome flat-roof system.
Rail connectors are only compatible with their respective profiles. The set for SingleRail 36 includes four M8 hammer-head screws; the set for SolidRail Light and Ultra Light includes two M10 hammer-head screws; and the BasicRail set includes two Torx screws. The SolidRail cross-connection set joins two layers of rails at right angles when cross-rails are positioned on top of base rails.
Planning lengths and joints
The rail length corresponds to the width of the module array; longer rows are created using several rails with connectors. For BasicRail, K2 specifies a thermal break every 9.60 m and no module clamp above the connector. The structural analysis determines how many metres of rail and how many fixing points a roof requires.
The rail is secured using roof hooks and anchor bolts, whilst the modules are held in place by centre and end clamps. Clips and BasicLock for the BasicRail system are used on trapezoidal and sheet metal roofs, whilst the FlatConnector for domes is used for flat-roof mounting systems.
