Dehumidifier - Dehumidify Mode
A dehumidifier extracts water from the air in a room and collects it in a tank. It helps when the problem is not the temperature, but misted-up windows, damp laundry or damp walls. The appliances shown here are from Hantech and perform dehumidification for 10, 20 or 30 litres a day.

The litre figure is the rated power as stated in the technical data sheet. In a cool room, a dehumidifier performs less dehumidification because cold air holds less water. If you are running the appliance in a large or persistently damp room, it is therefore better to choose a model one size larger.
Dehumidifiers for basements, bathrooms and laundry rooms
In the cellar, the operating range is key. According to the technical data sheet, the DH series units operate at room temperatures of 5 to 35 °C and defrost automatically in cool air. The TECH units feature frost protection. In the bathroom and laundry room, where a lot of moisture is generated all at once after showering or when drying laundry, a smaller unit with a timer is often sufficient.
When the tank is full, the unit switches off: the DH series alerts the user and stops automatically, whilst the TECH units feature overflow protection and a visible water level indicator. The TECH units are fitted with castors, and the DH series has a child safety lock. The data sheets specify a sound pressure level of 46 dB for the HNT-DH10, HNT-DH20 and TECH20 models, and 53 dB for the 30-litre unit.
Refrigerant and operation
All dehumidifiers use the refrigerant R290, which has a global warming potential of 3. They work like a small air conditioner: the air flows over a cold evaporator, the water condenses and drains into the tank. They can be set up without any installation, and come with a two-year warranty.
If you also want to cool the room, a portable air conditioner will perform dehumidification in the appropriate mode. For continuous cooling, a split-system air conditioner is the more economical choice. All Hantech units are listed on the Hantech air-conditioning technology page.
