PV Complete Sets with Battery

A PV system with storage as a complete package combines solar panels, a hybrid inverter and a battery storage unit in a coordinated configuration. The storage unit stores the electricity that the roof generates at midday – in excess of the house’s needs – for use in the evening and at night. The packages here range from 6.8 to just over 30 kWp with storage capacities of around 7.7, 10 or 15 kWh.

How much storage for which system

The storage capacity depends on consumption in the evening and at night, not on the roof area. A storage unit larger than this consumption will rarely run completely empty; one that is too small will be depleted by early evening. The packages are structured in three tiers:

All inverters are three-phase and protected against dust and water jets in accordance with IP66. The larger Solplanet units have four MPP trackers, i.e. four separately controlled module strings; this is helpful for roofs with multiple orientations. Packages with the same module power differ in terms of inverter power and storage capacity.

The storage system in detail

All packages featuring Solplanet inverters utilise the Solplanet Ai-HB G2 Pro high-voltage storage system: a battery management system (BMS) and three, four or six battery modules, each with a capacity of 2.56 kWh. This results in 7.68, 10.24 or 15.36 kWh; the product names specify rounded figures of 7.5, 10 and 15 kWh. According to the manufacturer, the modules are designed for 8,000 charge cycles, and a storage tower can be expanded to 20.48 kWh. Additional modules are available for the storage systems designed for inverters.

Two packages are configured with Trina components: TRH series inverters, four Trina battery modules and Trina Vertex S+ with 465 W. The product description for both of these indicates an emergency power function; a qualified electrician will clarify how the switchover is carried out in the meter cupboard.

Modules, scope of delivery and registration

The Solplanet packages use glass-on-glass modules from JA Solar (JAM54D40 with 455 or 465 W) or Trina Vertex S+ with 470 W, all with black frames and dimensions of 1,762 × 1,134 mm. The packages contain modules, inverters and storage units; you select the mounting structure and solar cables to suit your roof and cable routing. The system is registered with the grid operator prior to commissioning and entered in the market master data register; a qualified electrician will handle the grid connection.

Frequently asked questions about PV systems with storage

Which storage system is suitable for a 10-kWp system?

The 10-kWp packages are available with around 10 kWh, whilst those from 10.9 kWp upwards are also available with 15.36 kWh. The key factor is consumption in the evening and at night.

Can the storage capacity be increased later?

According to the manufacturer, the Solplanet Ai-HB G2 Pro can be expanded up to 20.48 kWh per storage tower by adding further modules, each with a capacity of 2.56 kWh.

Why does the name say 10 kWh, but the description says 10.24 kWh?

The name is rounded. Four modules, each with a capacity of 2.56 kWh, give a total nominal capacity of 10.24 kWh.

Does the system supply power in the event of a power cut?

A backup power function is explicitly stated for both Trina packages. Whether and how the Solplanet packages supply backup power is specified in the data sheet for the respective inverter.
