Here you will find battery storage systems for rooftop installations with hybrid inverters: individual battery modules, the corresponding BMS units and ready-made storage sets comprising both. The range includes systems from Growatt, Solplanet, Fronius, EcoFlow and Trina with capacities ranging from 2.56 to 5.12 kWh per module; as ready-made sets, the range extends from 5 to 30 kWh.

An overview of the storage systems

According to the data sheet, all modules use lithium iron phosphate (LFP). They are stacked to form a tower until the system’s upper limit is reached.

What a battery pack consists of

A high-voltage storage system consists of battery modules and a BMS unit. The Battery Management System (BMS) monitors the cells and charge status and maintains the connection to the inverter. For Growatt APX, Solplanet Ai-HB G2 Pro and Fronius Reserva, the base on which the tower stands is integrated into the BMS unit. For Growatt ARK and Trina, the BMS unit is a separate component. The Growatt AXE is a low-voltage module operating at 51.2 V and incorporates its own BMS within the module.

Ready-made kits are available for three systems: Growatt APX with one to six modules (5 to 30 kWh), Solplanet Ai-HB G2 Pro with three to eight modules (7.68 to 20.48 kWh) and Fronius Reserva with two to five modules (6.3 to 15.8 kWh), each with a BMS unit including a base. A smaller set can be expanded later with modules from the same series up to the upper limit shown in the table. Which storage system is compatible with which inverter

Whether high-voltage or low-voltage depends on the inverter. The decisive factor is its storage list: only the storage systems listed there are approved. For some devices in the range, the manufacturers’ lists specify: Growatt MOD HU accepts only APX, Growatt MOD XH accepts ARK, APX, AXE and ARK LV, Growatt MIN XH accepts ARK and APX. The Solplanet ASW H-T2 and H-T3 work exclusively with Ai-HB. For all other hybrid inverters, the respective data sheet applies. The installation location is determined by the protection rating and temperature range. Most modules are rated to IP65 or IP66; Growatt, APX and ARK operate from −10 to +50 °C according to their data sheets. The Growatt AXE has IP20 and an operating range of 0 to +50 °C; it is designed for installation in a dry indoor environment. For photovoltaic systems and their essential components, no value added tax is charged where the conditions of Section 12 (3) of the German VAT Act (UStG) are met. You state during the ordering process whether they apply to you.

Frequently asked questions about PV storage systems for inverters

What is the difference between high-voltage and low-voltage storage systems?

With high-voltage storage systems, the voltage of the stack increases with each module. Low-voltage modules such as Growatt, AXE and Solplanet Ai-LB operate at 51.2 V. The inverter determines which type is suitable.

Do I need a BMS unit for the battery modules?

For the high-voltage systems, the answer is yes – one per tower. It is included in the ready-made kits. The Growatt AXE has its BMS built into the module.

How many modules can be stacked?

Up to the upper limit specified in the data sheet: for Growatt APX, six modules totalling 30 kWh; for Solplanet Ai-HB G2 Pro, eight modules totalling 20.48 kWh; and for Fronius Reserva, five modules totalling 15.8 kWh.
